Brother, can you spare a dime?

Count Your Change

Slipped under our metaphorical electronic door in the middle of the night, it’s another possible game tip for you! Either that or an attempt at Web 2.0 panhandling, we’re not sure. All the tip said, along with providing the following link, was, “Count your change.”

If this is some sort of ARG targeted at homeless people, we’re frankly incensed that we didn’t think of it first. What a brilliant idea! Those guys have almost as much free time on their hands as college students and you see them hanging around outside the coffee shops all the time, leeching free wi-fi on their souped-up laptops. Bastards.

    I don’t know why, but I’m feeling a little Labfly vibe.

    Then again, maybe it’s just the username: ceeemooore. Lots of letters. Also, labfly isn’t the type of person to launch a game by emailing Space. Sending mysterious packages, maybe. But not just a plain ol’ email.

  2. lergnag Says:

    Anyone try to count the change?

  3. thatdood Says:

    the title of the vid is “one dollar fifty-nine cents in assorted loose change” so you at least don’t have to count it.

  4. argnewb Says:

    You Most definatly DO have to count.

    My talley –
    Quarters – 6 = 1.50
    Dimes – 6 = .60
    Nickels – 6 = .30
    Pennies – 8 = .08
    ——
    $2.48

    the Difference between said amount and what I viewed on the vid is exactly 89 cents. I will continue to google this to see!

  5. Mahanamatashi Says:

    After pausing and counting the coins, there are actually 15 on each side of the mirror image and so 30 in total. The $2.48 only accounts for 26 of them.

    The total and the ‘change’ are presumably incorrect.

    Sorry.

  6. Mahanamatashi Says:

    I think it works out like this:

    1c x 4 4
    5c x 3 15
    10c x 4 40
    25c x 4 200
    Total 259

    Deducting $1.59 leaves $1 in change.

  7. RJ Says:

    Check the math again;
    .25 = 4 = 1.00
    .10 = 4 = .40
    .05 = 3 = .15
    .01 = 4 = .04
    total = 15 coins = 1.59
    1.59 * 2 = 3.18 (mirrored)
    film showed 6 slides unmirrored
    1.59 * 6 = 9.54
    and showed 14 slides mirrored
    3.18 * 14 = 44.52
    total showed in film
    9.54 + 44.52 = 54.06
    I need to do some more looking to see if any of the above turns up anything

  8. RJ Says:

    I was wrong. There are a total of 30 slides to the film;
    10 unmirrored
    10 mirrored color
    10 mirrored black & white

    total change shown would then equal 79.50
    still have not turned up any leads though.
